How to change the default DotNetNuke® DNN Host password

On first installation of DotNetNuke® DNN your website will have two default users configured with two default passwords. These users are Host and Admin. The first thing you need to do is change these passwords.

1. Go to your new Website

  • Open Internet Explorer and type in the web address, i.e. url, of your site for example www.ictkey.com.

The default SuperUser Account is Host and the password is Host

If your Website Hosting Provider installed DotNetNuke® DNN for you then they may have configured a different User Name and Password for example if you use www.PowerDNN.com they configure the SuperUser Account Name as host password hostdnn .

It is very easy to find out the default user names and passwords as they are displayed on the front page of your website, see screen shot below. This is why the first thing you need to do is change the passwords.

N.B. I recommend you use a Strong Password i.e. over eight characters using Upper and Lower Case characters, numbers and symbols. I recommend that you test your password strength at Microsofts Password Checker page.

Enter your new password again to confirm it into the Confirm Password Field

Click the Change Password link

That's it, you have now successfully changed your SuperUser Host account password.
